He was the head of the 15 Corps that looked after the security of the LoC in the Jammu region and played a key role in the planning of the URI surgical strikes. He has received many awards by the Indian Army and holds the distinction of having received an award at each level of service and only serving officer to get the maximum number of gallantry or distinguished service awards.
